At this time there are no plans for any more episodes … at least no official statement has been made.
If you liked the series, you should buy the manga or search for it on the net as some sites let you download it.

This is very good anime, there is actually one more episode which is called Elfen Lied 14 and is just a special so the story doesn’t continue :(. It would be great if they would make more episodes as good as the first 13.

hmm i assumed she died she faked her death by letting herself be surrounded and shot at by the soldiers, and that the horn flying off was proof that the bullets were getting through. Didnt he say before that if they fired enough bullets she wouldnt be able to stop them all? and all the characters are quiet whenever someone mentions her. However at the end I think she returns to start a new life. If she didnt fake her death they would be still hunting her and she wouldnt be able to live in peace. Also having the horn blow off meant she wouldnt be different anymore so she could fit in. Maybe that was intentional. anyway thats what i think

Come on!! Of couse Lucy didnt die, its freak’n appearent that the shadow at the door was her and the
clock was a dead give away. plus the story had so much more to build upon, I’m mean come on… If the
diclones were #, then #35, #7, and Lucy cant be the only diseased diclones. Awesome anime but I could
of done without the useless nudity, and traditional japanese exageration. Oh and one more thing, in
episode 11, Yuka realized that kouta’s feelings laid with Nyuu/Lucy, and so Lucy has to be alive to claim
her never ending love for Kouta
You are forgetting that Lucy is able to fully recover. Think about the episode where she got shot as a little kid, she recovered didn’t she? Also the flying horn was supposed to make us believe that she died, but I’m sure that she didn’t

Isaak, that wasn’t lucy, but another diclonius. But i just realized that the general director says that the project is “just beginning” to that scientists girl who’s obsessed with baths. So whether there are up to 50 episodes out already or there coming out in october, there are definitely going to b more episodes. Everyone can rest easy knowing its not over, though we will have to wait…
You are mistaken, you are probably thinking of the pink haired girl who touched the Kurama with her vectors and got shot afterwards, I am talking about little Lucy at the apartment, when she was on a killing spree in order for a place to sleep. She pointed at the soldier/police officer and cut his head off afterwards.
I also remember the director saying that but it doesn’t prove anything, in most series this is mentioned just to keep the fans thinking about the serie ;). But it would be great if more episodes would come and if they are going to be as great as the first 13.
k.. this is the strangest anime I ever seen.. it was very good I enjoyed but I could love it if there wasn’t so few episodes with aglomerate things happening and so much blood.. and the fact that lucy killed Kouta’s father and sister in this last episode and they kissed is again too much and strange.. I understand that it wasn’t her foult it was confused with only sad memories but steel I don’t understand how can Kouta do that after getting his familly killed.. maybe it was better if that wasn’t happening.. and poor Yuka she looks like she is in the middle of them nothing more in the ending.. I’m telling you that this anime could be much much better.. now I’ll read the manga to see wath’s happening cause I can’t wait for next anime series..in conclusion story ended and that woman doesn’t manage to get a bath.. pretty sad..
The person at the gate, at the end, isn’t that Lucy? It seemed pretty obvious to me… maybe I’m wrong, but you don’t actually see her die or anything. Though, they do talk that way…
The ending is confusing, but i guess that’s a good thing if they plan on continuing the series. Still, October 2008! That’s ages away!
Oh well, this is definitely up there on my list of favorite Anime shows, right next to Death Note and Code Geass.

V, of course it’s quite obvious that the person at the gate at the end of the last episode was Lucy, they probably kept her hidden to keep us the fans thinking about the story ;).
I agree that if there are new episodes coming out in October, it is still ages away, but it’s worth waiting for :). It seems I have the same opinion about Elfen Lied and Death Note as you, I’m going to look up Code Geass since I never heard of it.
I have to say, I’m not usually an anime fan. Most of what I’ve seen is just guys flying around with crazy hair or chicks with big boobs and tiny skirts punching perverts in the face. But this is one of the most amazing series I have ever seen in my lifetime. You know how there are those movies that hit you hard and make you want to chance the world or something? This is one of them. I know it sounds funny because, yes, it is just a cartoon, but it’s really made me rethink things.
I first saw this series when I was at a friends house. We’d decided to go to the city and we had a 40 minute wait before the train left, so she decided to show me the first episode.
Two hours later we’re still sitting infront of the TV going through the DVDs like crack. The trip to the city was out the window, I was hooked.
Everything about this series is beautiful, even the gore and somewhat unessiccary (at times, anyway) nudity has it’s own artisticness to it. The perfect portrayl of these different people who are punished for being born evolved is heartbreaking yet moving at the same time. And speaking of which, the creater has hit the nail right on the head. It makes me wonder, if humans where to start evolving like this, would they be regarded as the new generation of life, or as mutants? Would the human fear of the unknown overshadow the fact that life is a constantly changing and evolving thing?
God. I am so doing my next movie reveiw for English class on this, because I could go on about how the movie reflects on Darwin’s theory of evoloution and ethics and such forever. I’m even considering showing this to my Philosophy professor, because we’ve discussed the fear of the unknown as basic human nature before, and I think she might enjoy this.

razvanro, I am currently creating an Elfen Lied fansite and don’t plan to set up a forum for Elfen Lied alone, except if it will be part of another forum because the number of active Elfen Lied fans isn’t really high. A blog is a great choice but forum is a bit too large for a small community. It’s your choice though, a forum also has its advantages, for example: subjects will be easier to find instead of browsing a whole blog page.

The horn getting blown off in the end and also the clock working and the music box stopping, means that lucy/nyuu is back and not dead. It’s a beautiful symbolic way to show us that, at least that’s what I believe. The ending is incredible of u think about it like that^^.
This is 1 of the animes I’ve watched that makes me feel….empty or something:) and that only happens with really great endings. It’s just a hunger for more and I can’t wait to see more! Thanks for uploading

I loved this series. It made more of an impact on me than any anime I’ve seen yet. Not to mention, it’s the only one that’s made me bawl my eyes out so much, unless I count reading the manga Saikano.

the special episode isn’t “the end”. The special chapter is taking place between chapter 10 and 11. You could say the chapter is 10.5

That is one way to literally interpret the title, but I rather think it stands for Lucy -not being able- to return because of the trouble she has caused Kohta in the past, this is how she feels.

Oh my god this anime is so amazing, i think this is the first time i’ve even come close to crying from anything fictional i have watched on tv (in this case the computer but, meh) This was so beautifully created and such a good story line. I honestly hope that Lucy is still alive, as mentioned before the horn getting shot off at the end was kind of symbolic. I hope she will come back as a “normal” human because her horns were blown off. I know that will not happen but lol its worth a shot.
I want Lucy back and I dont at the same time, if she does come back the Yuka will be sad ;_; but if she doesn’t come bac then Kouta will miss her ;_; its so hard. I cant wait for the new episodes!

Unfortunately, my opinion is that she did die, that figure at the door was just probably a memory, “she will still be there but not with them”(If you understand that). If you read the manga, it showed that she reincarnated to twins one lucy and one nyuu. After all, that’s just the manga, who knows what might happen for sure but that’s my guess.

I don’t think there will be new episodes soon, it’s a waste to get your hopes up for nothing. For new anime episodes to come out new manga releases have to be created and I haven’t heard anything about new Elfen Lied manga chapters

I’m 14..but i didn’t cried.I was happy beacause Lucy could apoligies to Kotha…anyway in the manga Lucy continues living like Nyu.When a diclonius’s both horns are broken they loose there memory.Nyu learns to speak it’s winter and everybody is happy.Of course they keep searching for her and when a stupid soldier shot’s Kotha Nyu’s horns instantly regrow like 5cm long and she kills everybody within 5 m.She even blows off helicopters.Sorry for spoiling just read the damn manga.There are alot of thing from where is read these.
Really at starting it’s boring but it’s fine after reading a little.I recomend reading it from the first chapter beacause it contains more of the story like how did Lucy get that friend of her who was shot by Kurama’s soldiers.HERE’s THE LINK:

alrite so i think i figured this out…
the song at the end of this episode stops one note short, symbolizing that its not over.
and the shadow has no horns, because one of lucys horns got punched off, and the other shot off. its lucy. she faked her death on the bridge and ran back to kouta, so now the officials dont KNOW shes alive. the clock is also a beautiful way of showing that lucy is still alive. she has been trying to fix it for so long. but this is where i get confused: wouldnt that mean that she DIED? because while shes alive shes trying to fix it, and finally when she “dies” it works? thats where i get stuck…but i still believe in my heart that lucy is alive.
and just a personal opinion: i thought that scene where lucy apologizes for killing koutas sister and father is beautiful. and he declares his love for her, I CRIED SO MUCH omg. lol ok im done.

I rather think the clock is a symbolic way to show that it’s the end of the series, it kind of looks like fixing the clock was the main goal in the series. And now that it’s fixed there is no reason for the series to continue :-(, or it could also mean the end of the first season which means that a new broken clock, or other object, will appear in season ;-). So I’m almost positive that the working clock didn’t stand for Lucy being dead, but on the other hand I also don’t see why it stands for Lucy being alive so I’ll stay with my first thoughts.

German producer? These series are completely Japanese, it’s a Japanese manga artist and a Japanese anime studio. Just the name Elfen Lied origins from a German poem. And I’m also getting annoyed of the fact that many people say there are going to come new series in October 2008 without mentioning the source… It kind of makes me don’t want to believe it..

I am not aware of the roots of the Elfen Lied story but I did hear about a German story containing elves as characters beside the poem so you’re probably right about it, there was no need for the explanation though ;-).
Let’s just hope that you are also right about the last part
i think it ended allright, i mean there’s a lot left unsaid like the love triangle and the effects of the missing horns, but i mean i think we can all assume that the person in the end is lucy(nyuu), but a lot of times the writers will just leave the ending up to audience, if they want the silhouette to be the boogy man they can, if it’s lucy for people then that’s all, it’s really a great work of art and what i would see as the best way to get an ending that everyone can thoroughly appreciate. Elfen Lied is what i would put as my top second series, followed by hellsing ultimate.

hi i dont think any of u know me its been a year since ive watched this here.there a show that i think is even better than this called higurashi no koro ni and 2and season higurashi no koro ni kai. its a cool show sad and scary in the begining but gets better and u find out more and more every chapter. well worth watching but very scary and trippy. but if u stick with it its worth it.
read the manga shes not dead she loses her horns and becaouse of this she forgets about being who she was she cant use her arm things she looks normal and she still likes boobs and she becomes smart and can talk and stuff

Ok, So I didn’t really read everyone’s comments above. I got like two thirds of the way through and I’m starting to get tired, So I wanted to post my idea.
Fist off I want to say that I love this series. It is without a doubt my favorite anime. period. I think (Like ROADKILL and others) That the blood/gore and Nudity fits in very well with the overall story. This is a very dark tale, and all the elements including the gore and nudity come together into a beautiful final product.
Also like everyone else before me, I want to say thanks for posting all the episodes together on an easy to use page. thanks a lot. I’ve shown this to just about all my friends over the past week. xD
I never read the manga, though I want to. I just haven’t actually been able to find it yet. the ending scene is very unclear. I think that this was done intentionally. I think that they (the creators of the series want you to think about it. They want you to decide for yourself who’s behind the door. Is it Lucy? Nyuu? or someone new? I’m sure that if there are more episodes coming later this year this will be clarified. But for now it’s up to your imagination.
Anyway, here’s my thoughts on the ending:
The dog was barking happily, the clock started and the music box stopped playing all at roughly the same time as the stranger comes to the door.I think that this represents the fact that 1)the dog recognizes the person at the door. 2) The music box stopped because if has a strong connotation to Lucy, and she lost both her horns, I think that music box stops because she died in once way or another. 3) Nyuu was workin on the clock the entire series, and I think that it starts because Nyuu is alive. 4) in the beginning Lucy/Nyuu’s mind is very VERY fractured and they’re like two completely different people, but as time goes on Lucy becomes, for lack of a better word, softer, and Nyuu remembers more and slowly but surely the two become more and more alike. Thus my final concluding thought is that the person at the door is Lucy and Nyuu together, as if the two completely opposite personalities merged together in some sort of medium. And she’s returned sans honrns, and perhaps without her Diclonius powers, to start anew with the only friends she’s ever had.
Well….. That’s my opinion about the end….

I simply cannot accept that this series ends here. I mean, if shows like inuyasha and naruto can justify their continued existence then its pure injustice that something with this much pure quality and substance should not go on. I read along the posts that perhaps it will continue in october, and that would be great, as long as they keep the same creative drive behind the story line (basically the tragedy of cinematic sequels is what Im afraid of). But yeah, enough said, this was one of the greatest story lines I have ever seen, on paper or off, and the artistic way they pulled it off was just Fsckin amazing. the end
THAT WAS AWSOME! not just this episode in particular but the whole series! by the way, on the last episode, i almost cried (and i never cry from anime.) can any1 sinse i beleive this was the last episode (sadly and i hope i’m wrong) can any1 recomend another good anime show? (i didnt read all coments because they took too long and im in a hurry)

i found it very strange that kouta still liked lucy after herememberd what she did, but at the same time, i didn’t want him to hate her.. i felt bad for yuka cuz shes an obessor but shes a . . . overreactor - selfish, obessedd.. person. the ending leaves so many trails, i dont understand the ending. i want to know who was behind that door!! i didnt really like #7 compared to lucy . . I was expecting lucy and #7 to epically beat #whatever but they just blew her up.
but i like how every female kouta talks to wants him in bed XD;; great anime though, i would of been ok if the kiss was the last part of it. great music and stuff. wasnt yuka related to kouta though, whats up with the interbreeding here. . one thing i noticed though , lucy free’d the dog when it was tied up outside the house the first time the dog met lucy, cuz it reminded her of her puppy aha..
i dont know, i just think there should be more T_T
Whitebabylon, why did you find it that strange? It’s understandable to me as the incident happened a long time ago and with Lucy living at his place he created a close band with her, therefor it would be hard for him to hate her after confessing it. Furthermore, he also said that he wouldn’t forgive her for it but on the other hand he wouldn’t hate her for it.
And I’m not following you with “every female kouta talks to wants him in bed XD”…
PS: Diclonius don’t have anything against animals
